Giving notice to leave.

Ending the house sharing / leaving the property:

  • In all cases the flat mate must give at least 48 hours notice before ending the tenancy and leaving the property. We prefer longer so we can prepare accordingly.
  • A cooperative approach is required from the tenant who is leaving, to inspect the room and help show the property and their room when prospective tenants come for a viewing.
  • Before leaving the house the bedroom, bathroom(s) and kitchen must be cleaned by the departing tenant(s). This also means hoovering of floors (including under the bed)and a full dusting of furniture, doors, walls, ceiling, skirting boards and window shelves. The provided linen has to be washed and folded. So new a tenants can move into clean and tidy accommodation.
  • It is not permitted to leave any personal belongings (this also includes food from the fridge and freezer) or rubbish.
  • The tenant is not permitted to remove any chattels or fixtures from the premises that does not belong to him.
  • The tenant returns all the keys, provided by the landlord.

We will come and inspect the room and the house to make sure the house is ready for the next person to move in. We will do inspections on the day of leaving or in the after in case you leave on Saterday or Sunday. You can contact Rent-A-Room staff a couple of days prior to leaving to book in the inspection on: 021-923553.

Please make a note now to remember to LEAVE THE KEY(S) in the room in a spot where the next flatmate can find it.
